Stop Avast Upgrade For Windows 10 Popups On Mac

Steps are relevant for all Windows versions – Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 (including Anniversary Update). Also, please note these steps work only for the pop-up notifications which are being displayed in the bottom-right corner (systray) of your Windows. Unfortunately, the notification will appear the next day (and the day after that), so this is only a temporary fix to your problem. Use this method if you plan to update, but just don't want to at the moment. Apr 05, 2017  Avast upgrade utility is one of the most irritating things on windows 10 but if we delete the upgrade file from the operating system. Avast upgrade utility pop up window will never pop up on.

Shawn, Thank you for reaching out to AVG with your concerns. Many AVG users find these offers useful: they rely on them to upgrade to our higher levels of protection. By doing so, they help fund the free version of the protection. But AVG do understand the repeated appearance of the same message is frustrating and they are working to improve your experience.
Thank you for understanding.

WTF RIPAVG

'Many AVG users find these offers useful'

Show one testimonial where a person says, 'thank you for the pop-ups'
Most people know 'marketing speak' when they see it and the statement 'they are working to improve your experience' is a red-card worthy foul.

AVG has lost my trust and business.

I an running AVG ZEN build 1.113.2.50020 and there is NO Options button (only Settings) nor any Advanced Settings (only Device settings), nor any of the other menus you mention.
Now what?
How do I get rid of this cra...junk, or do I need to scrap AVG - which I have quite happily used and recommended for probably almost 20 years - and find a less trouiblesome program?

Hello Shawn,
Please open the AVG Internet Security instead of AVG Zen. You can find all this options from the AVG Internet Security window and not from AVG Zen interface.
Thank you

Hello Don & Ford,
Once you open AVG Zen interface, you should see 4 tiles on it. The first one should read Internet Security. Please click on that to further launch AVG Internet Security interface and follow the instructions provided.

Hello Avinash,
Thanks for the reply, however it hasn't helped. There are 4 tiles. but there is no Internet Security tile. The first one is Anti Virus. Clicking that opens a pop up that tells me my pro trial has expired. There is an Options menu, but under it is only My Account, Buy Now or About AVG. The other tiles (PC Tune Up, HMA! PRo VPN and WebTune up) are also fruitless avenues. So actually the instructions don't provide any help.
I really would like to continue using the Free version of AVG as I have for the past 10+ years, but having to deal with the popups multiple times a day is pushing me towards uninstalling.
So is there a way I can actually stop the horrible pop ups or do I have to abandon AVG?

Hi Abirami,
As soon as I click the anti virus component the window pops up, for a half a second the AVG program is visible, but this fades out to be replaced by the message informing me that my pro trial has expired. (see screenshot below)
Again, there is an option menu, but there are no advanced settings. IT seems like the pro trial propaganda overrides the AVG functionality. I see this as a serious bug to the interface. This is really annoyng especially since I never knowingly even accepted the pro trial.
It does not seem possible to a) open the AVG program from AVG Zen to change these setting nor b) otherwise launch AVG outside of Zen.

Yea, that doesn't work. I've been an AVG user for years and years and as soon as my subscription is up I'm dumping AVG. These popups are ridiculous. I paid for your software, I shouldn't be getting advertisements from you. Software companies are not advertisting agencies.
You lost a customer. I've been using your product since Grisoft was an infant.

One small problem, there is not an 'Advanced Settings' for Internet Security anymore.
AVG Internet Security
Software Version 17.4.3014 (Last update on Jun 11,2017)
How about some relevant assistance with a current product instead of the same canned response to numerous customer complaints about unwanted 'Hey buy this' ads in your paid products.
Even this link regitates the same information.
https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlName=How-to-Change-the-Frequency-of-Pop-Up-Notifications&q=remove+ads
However, at least indicates that if you have Internet Security-Unlimited that these instructions may not apply. However, it does not provide any information if those settings do not apply. Well, in my opinion, that makes it pretty damn 'limited' as I cannot disable these repeated ads for VPN, PC Tuneup, and other products that if I had an interest in purchasing I would have already. Pro Tip, do keep trying to sell to your customers in your products. It tends to piss them off.

K L,
The feedback regarding campaign pop ups in AVG 2017 version has been submitted already. In the latest version of AVG, the campaign pop up frequency can not be changed. Click the “Menu” button at the top right corner of the AVG Antivirus window and select “Settings”.AVG displays regular popup notifications, expand the “Popups” section. You can set different durations for information, update, warning, and alert popups. For example, you may want to disable info and update popups by setting them to “0” but leave warning and alert popups enabled.

Bob,
I regret for the inconvenience caused. Please be informed that we are working on major update to find and implement best option for AVG Marketing popups. This process will take time but we assure you that it will be done as soon as possible.
However, you can try changing the duration for AVG popups from the settings. This will only limit the duration of campaign popups appearance.
Open AVG interface, click on Menu-->Settings.
On General window, right side you can find Popups, please click on arrow next to it.
It will show you the option to setup duration for all popups.
Please setup duration '0' for information popups alone.
Thank you.

Look at the previous posts. The one from technician Avinash suggested that, and mine says that I tried that with no results. Sorry, try another suggestion.
I understand that AVG FREE is free for a reason, but your marketing is driving me crazy. It does not inspire me to spend money only to have the same end results.

Bob,
We are aware of the popups and we can understand how annoying this could be. Our developers are working hard to implement an option to decrease the marketing popups.

Your developers should better work quick. I´ve paid for AVG Internet Security 2017 - Unlimited Version, and these annoying marketing pop-ups will certainly prevent me from paying once again, when my account expires.

Hello Jörn,
I'm sorry to hear that you're receiving AVG promotional pop ups. Many of our users find these offers useful. We handpick them from our own products or those of partners we feel can add to your security or digital experience. Please check if you have installed AVG Secure VPN on your computer (open control panel > programs and features), if yes then please uninstall it. The frequency of pop ups can be controlled directly from the app or can be even turned off (please open AVG Internet Security > menu > settings > general > Pop ups > manage your pop ups). You can also check the Silent mode box in general settings to turn off AVG Marketing/promotional pop ups.
Best regards,
Alok.
